post by KM The results for the top concert tours of 2011 are in, and U2 takes the top spots on both the Global and North America charts!In 2011, fans of U2 purchased 2,387,535 tickets worldwide with the average price for one concert tour ticket going for $97.15. The band's stadium tour sold 91,828 tickets on average (per show), bringing the concert's global gross for 2011 just above $230 million. Wow!
In North America, Taylor Swift's concert tour earned her the chart's second spot with a gross of $97.7 million. Third place goes to Kenny Chesney with a gross of $84.6 million for 2011. And fourth place on the North America chart goes to Lady Gaga, as her "little monsters" drove $63.7 million to her concert tour.
On the Global chart, Take That lands the number two spot behind U2, taking in $224 million from their reunion concert tour of 2011. Third place goes to New Jersey's Bon Jovi with a gross of $148.8 million. And fourth place on the Global chart goes to the second place winner on the North America chart, Taylor Swift. Globally her concert tour grossed $104.2 million.
The only hip hop concert tour to crack the Global chart top 25 goes to Kanye West and Jay-Z's "Watch The Throne" tour. The duo placed twenty-third on the Global chart grossing $48.3 million from their 35 show tour.
