The Muzu.tv streaming music video app, which launched on Microsoft's Xbox marketplace in December 2011, has been gaining a lot of traction in a short amount of time. The release of the app comes as Xbox Live begins the expansion of its video streaming marketplace.

The music video service, which provides music lovers with access to more than 80,000 videos, is currently available to Xbox Live subscribers in Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, and Spain.

“We took a long time to develop the app and Microsoft is rigorous about its technology quality assurance process, but we wanted to be the first music app on Xbox,” said CiarĂ¡n Bollard, co-founder of Muzu.tv.

Muzu.tv also has partnerships with both Sony and Samsung to provide users with access to its video streaming service on internet-ready TVs. “We want to own the TV space and we will have more deals to come in the new year,” Bollard added.

As for stats on its new Xbox app—over 5 million videos were watched in the first seven days of its launch on the marketplace, according to the company. That averages out to around 500 music videos played every minute.
